If you have furry pets, you know that fleas can be a major issue. They cause a lot of trouble for your pets, but what many homeowners don’t know is that fleas can affect your home as well. Proper flea control is key to avoiding an infestation. Below are three of our top flea control tips to help you prevent a major flea problem.

Three Flea Control Tips to Help You Avoid Infestation

  1. Keep your pets clean. Bathing your pets regularly with the right shampoo helps prevent fleas from becoming a big problem. There are also other tools, such as special combs, that can help you remove fleas before a full-blown infestation occurs.
  2. Vacuum often. Fleas will rest in rugs and upholstered furniture. Vacuum these surfaces often to get rid of any fleas or their eggs that have been deposited there, especially after returning from a park where the risk of fleas coming home with you is higher. It’s recommended that you vacuum at least once a week, but if you’ve had a flea problem before or you’ve spent a lot of time outside recently, you may want to vacuum more frequently.
  3. Maintain your yard. This flea control tip helps prevent other pest infestations as well. Keep your yard maintained by mowing your lawn. Fleas and other pests are drawn to the cover that comes with long grass and bushes, but when you remove this cover by trimming your grass, fleas move somewhere else.

Prevention is one of the best things you can do to handle a flea problem, but if you do find yourself with an increasing number of fleas at your home, call us here at Green Services Termite & Pest Control for flea removal services.
