Our Credentials
Our TDA certification is not a credential we list just for the sake of checking a box—it’s a standard that we hold each of our technicians to, and it takes real work to both earn it and keep it.
Earning a Certified Applicator license through the Texas Department of Agriculture’s Structural Pest Control Service requires a technician to meet the following requirements:
- Must have held a technician license for at least six months and been employed under the supervision of a licensed certified applicator for at least 12 of the last 24 months
- Must have a degree in a biological science and furnish an official copy of their college transcript
- Must pass both the General Exam and at least one category-specific exam, with a minimum passing score of 70% on each
- Must complete a criminal background check administered by the TDA
Earning the certification is just the start. To keep it active, it’s necessary to complete Continuing Education Units (CEUs) each calendar year. Applicators must earn two CEUs in general training and one in each category in which the applicator is certified.
Many pest control companies say they are certified, but that doesn’t always mean all of their technicians are certified. In addition, very few companies actually explain what being certified means for the pest control professional coming to your home. We believe you have a right to know—and to verify it yourself. You can confirm that a TDA-certified pest control professional is in good standing by checking the Texas Department of Agriculture license lookup.
